Jabber is a service that allows for real-time communication via the XMPP protocol. All that is needed to use Jabber is a Penn State Access Account and a local chat client configured to support Jabber.
Penn State’s Jabber service allows people with a valid Penn State Access Account to activate their own Jabber account. Their Jabber screen name is their Access Account user ID (firstname.lastname@example.org), and their password is their Penn State Access Account password. Penn State Jabber accounts do not support a second or separate password. To change their Jabber account password, users must change their Penn State Access Account password. This can be done at work.psu.edu.
