Web Application Turnover

If you are developing or making major revisions to a Web application that will be managed by AIS, you must go through the Web Application Turnover process. The completion of this process will ensure the successful turnover and ongoing management of your application.

The steps for completing the Web Application Turnover Process are outlined below.  During this process you will be working with the Web Application Turnover Process Facilitator, Edward Hayes. Edward can be reached via his e-mail address above, by calling (814)-863-5766, or by visiting him in 4 Shields Building.

Process

Step 1
Review the AIS Production Web Application Standards document.

Step 2
Complete the Preliminary Web Application Questionnaire.

Step 3
Schedule and attend the Preliminary Web Application Meeting.  Prior to starting application development, contact the process facilitator (Edward Hayes), (814) 863-5766, to schedule the initial meeting with AIS personnel. Submit the document(s) from Step 2 at this time to the process facilitator. In this meeting, you will discuss the architectural design and the technical requirements of your application as well as timeframe for completion of the work. This will also be an opportunity to review potential issues from Appendix G of the AIS Production Web Application Standards document.

Step 4
Schedule and attend the Web Application Planning Meeting.  Once development has begun and you have an idea of the project timeline, contact the process facilitator to schedule a second meeting with AIS personnel. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss requirements or design changes and establish a tentative production target date. This meeting must take place at least 90 days before final production. Following this meeting, AIS Infrastructure will start the AIS Infrastructure Checklist document.

Step 5
Complete the Web Application Turnover Checklist.

Step 6
Schedule and attend the Web Application Production Planning Meeting.  Contact the process facilitator to schedule a production planning meeting with AIS personnel. This meeting must take place at least 30 days prior to tentative target production date. In this meeting, you will review the Web Application Turnover Checklist, demonstrate the final application to AIS personnel, and discuss application support and management issues. AIS Infrastructure will, in turn, describe progress in completing the AIS Infrastructure Checklist. If no problems are identified in this meeting, then a final production target date will be established.

Step 7
Receive sign-off from AIS Managers and Consulting and Support Services (CSS) Manager.  To confirm that all steps have been completed prior to moving the application to production, several AIS managers and the CSS Manager must sign the Web Application Turnover Checklist.
