Microsoft Excel

Excel will allow you to connect to the Data Warehouse by selecting 'Get External Data' from the 'Data' pull down menu. Excel launches Microsoft Query which is where you will create your query. Once your query is complete and the records you want displayed, select 'Return Data To Microsoft Excel' from the 'File' pull-down menu and the results of your query will be loaded into Excel.

When your results have been returned to Microsoft Excel, you can further manipulate your query results, print a report, or create charts.

Microsoft Query

Microsoft Query is an application that comes packaged with the Microsoft Office suite of software and can be used to access the Data Warehouse. Microsoft Query will allow you to develop a query and analyze the results, but if you need to print or save the results, you'll need to pull the information into Excel. Microsoft Query does not have any printing capabilities.

Microsoft Access

Using Microsoft Access to connect to the Data Warehouse gives the user different ways of handling the results of a query. You can create reports, charts, or load the information into a database for future use. To connect to the data warehouse with Access select, 'Attach Table' from the 'File' pull-down menu. Select your data source, and enter your login information and you should be connected to the Data Warehouse.

Microsoft Visual FoxPro

Visual FoxPro is a relational database system that allows you to connect to the Data Warehouse. FoxPro allows you to create forms, queries, and reports with the visual design tools and wizards. You can organize data, define database rules, as well as build full-featured applications, by providing an integrated development environment with powerful object-oriented programming tools, client/server capabilities, and OLE support.
