Supported Operating Systems for TSM

Fully Supported Operating Systems

TSM Administrators are equipped to test and support the following operating systems:

  • AIX V6.1
  • AIX V7.1
  • RHEL 6
  • RHEL 7
  • Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Windows Server 2012 R2

Partially Supported Operating Systems

IBM supports the following operating systems, however, TSM Administrators may not be able to equally test or support – support is best-effort and may not resolve all issues:

  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows Server 2012
  • RHEL 5
  • SLES 10
  • SLES 11
  • SLES 12
  • Ubuntu 14.04
  • HP-UX 11i V3
  • Solaris 10
  • Solaris 11

Unsupported/Desktop Operating Systems

None of the following operating systems are supported in using the TSM service, even if supported by IBM.

  • Mac OSX 10.x
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10

The aforementioned list is not exhaustive.

NOTE: All computers intended to be used by only a single user at a time are classified as Desktop, even if a Server Operating System is utilized. Such occurrences include lab computers, individual workstations, loaned laptops, and kiosks. Please contact TSM Administrators via backup@psu.edu if uncertain about a computer’s classification. In the e-mail, please describe the computer’s intended use.
