Analysis & Reporting
Penn State produces a tremendous amount of institutional and financial data, which requires management and analysis. Administrative Information Services (AIS) provides administrative staff and managers with the tools needed to monitor financial records, gives authorized personnel access to financial information related to grants and projects, provides faculty and staff with information related to students, and generates and distributes electronic reports.
Services
- Account Information Management System (AIMS)
-
The AIMS (Account Information Management System) system was retired, effective May 8th, 2012.
Faculty who used AIMS should now use the myResearch Portal service. Demonstrations of the myResearch Portal are available via the IT staff in Sponsored Programs. If you would like to schedule a demo, then please contact David Gindhart. Staff who currently use AIMS should begin using FIT. The FIT Reporting tool can be downloaded from the FIT Web site. Questions about FIT should be directed to the AIS Support Center.
In April 2011, the Office of Sponsored Programs launched the myResearch Portal to provide faculty with real-time, Web-based access to administrative data associated with their sponsored research. In addition to providing access to financial information, the myResearch Portal provides access to other information, such as pending proposals, pending and active awards, and active protocols.

- Data Warehouse
-
Penn State's Data Warehouse provides information on students, employees, classroom facilities, applicants, and financial transactions. It allows access to institutional data for analytical and reporting purposes. The data is non-modifiable and provides a snapshot of time-fixed data.
- Electronic Document Distribution System (eDDS)
-
eDDS is a tool that enables users to access and view reports through the Web. Reports can be viewed with a Web browser, Adobe Acrobat, text editor, or a word processor and can be saved, edited, or printed locally. Benefits include lower paper costs, less paper use, reduction in manual distribution of reports, and quicker distribution.
If you’ve already obtained access, you may login to eDDS.
For requests other than obtaining access, you may submit a Request For Service.
- Enterprise Information System (EIS)
-
EIS is the tool for answering questions about enrollments, admissions, and other related University information. Summary-level data can be viewed through a Web browser, where it can be presented in spreadsheet, chart or graph format.
If you already have obtained access, you may login to EIS.
- Financial Information Tool (FIT)
-
FIT is a tool for budget administrators to perform management functions for one account with IBIS Financial data. FIT can be used to manage research grants and contracts, view balances, review detailed financial records, monitor encumbrances, and produce timely reports tailored to meet a department's needs.
- Institutional Insight (iTwo)
-
iTwo is a new Web-based and metadata-driven data access, analysis and distribution environment available to Penn State information users. iTwo currently includes two interdependent components, which are Answers and Dashboards.
Answers is an ad-hoc query and analysis tool that works against a logical view of information in a pure Web environment. Dashboards delivers interactive Web-based reports, charts, tables, pivot tables, and graphs where the user has the capability for drilling, navigating, modifying, and interacting with these results.
If you already have obtained access, you may login to iTwo.
