PC Approval Path Maintenance System--Download Instructions

General Information

The Administrative Information Services (AIS) has developed the capability to download approval paths and import the paths into the PC Engineering Path Maintenance program. You must submit a request to have a job run so your approval paths are put into a "downloadable" format. Please follow the steps listed in the General Instructions section below.

Note:
You need the most current version of the Engineering PC Path Maintenance program in order to use the download capability.

To determine if you have the most current version, run the Path Maintenance program to see if you have the import option.

If your PC maintenance program does NOT have an import option, you need to obtain a new copy of the new maintenance program source code. See the instructions below to download the update.

If your PC maintenance program does have the import option available, proceed with the instructions listed below.

If you do not have ANY version of the PC Path Maintenance program, please contact Patti Cochrane at (814) 865-1821 to get a start-up diskette.

General Instructions

  1. Sign on to IBIS.
  2. Request function EXTP. This function will submit a job to extract your approval files and will run overnight.
  3. The next day, download your file via FTP. The file name is the same as the file you use to upload your approval paths.

    The file name is: PERM.FDPLFxx.ADMINyyy.NEWPATHS.G0001V00

    Note:
    xx = will be a system assigned number and yyy will be the administrative area number.

    If you do not know the xx number, please contact Jan Barnoff (865-4036) or Sue Gummo (864-4039).
  4. When you download the file, be sure to save the file in the same sub-directory in which the approval path maintenance is stored.
  5. Name the file APPRPATH.TXT
  6. Start the PC Engineering Approval Path Maintenance program
  7. Select the IMPORT option.
  8. Now you can begin your path maintenance process.

Downloading the PC Path Maintenance Update

  1. The program should be downloaded into the PC directory APPRPATH.
  2. The PC program name in that directory is MENU.EXE.
  3. The dataset on the mainframe that has the program is: DNLD.FDRQE.APPRPATH.MENU.EXE.G0001V00
  4. This file must be downloaded in Binary format. When you execute the RECEIVE command on your PC, OMIT the ASCII and the CRLF "words" at the end of the command.
