PAWS Overview PAWS means different things to different people at Penn State but the new PAWS you'll want to know about is the Penn State Administrative Web Suite. An administrative user will know PAWS as the place to go on the Web to get work done. PAWS will serve as a single launch point for a diverse collection of administrative functions and applications. Rather than remembering a variety of Web site addresses, a user simply needs to remember PAWS, and over time, the majority of Penn State's administrative functions will reside here. This includes functions such as submitting a travel reimbursement, updating your attendance record, submitting an electronic form to Workflow, etc. Administrative Systems Developers at Penn State Have a New Tool The incentives for developers to use PAWS to launch their existing applications are exposure and ease of use for customers. When it comes time to develop new applications, there are many time-saving reasons to go with a Java application integrated into PAWS. Underlying the PAWS environment is an application framework that will simplify the work of application developers who create PAWS integrated applications. The framework is a base system that provides application control, flow, and orchestration based on numerous accepted Java Enterprise Edition (J2EE) patterns.
