Adding/Removing News Items



Adding a News Item

1. Click the red dot next to “Add/remove news item:”
2. Select “Create and connect page”
3. Choose the Individual News Item template
4. Type the teaser to appear in the news box as the page header
5. Click the red dot next to “Edit news date:” and select the date of the news item
6. Click the red dot next to “Edit icon:”
7. Click on "select image." You MUST select an image
NOTE:  The three choices are:NEW, UPDATE, or the "white square" selection that is used when an icon is not preferred. Icons will appear next to the teaser in the news box
8. Click the red dot next to “Edit news text:” and add the content of the news story
9. Click the “Keywords” menu, and hit “Add” to assign a keyword
10. Select the category “News” and the keyword that is the title of the section where the news is being added
11. Click the “Linking” menu and click on the small clock icon beside the new page you’ve just created. This will allow you to add the start and end dates when your news item will appear on the home page
12. Once the end date has been reached, the news item will be automatically filed in "News Archives"

Removing a News Item (if start/end dates have not been selected)

1. Click the red dot next to “Add/remove news item:”
2. Select disconnect page from list”
3. Select page or pages to disconnect and click OK

To change the number of teasers that will display in the news box (needs admin. privileges):

1. Find “news_item” list element in SmartTree in appropriate section
2. Select “Edit sort order settings”
3. Enter maximum number of pages
