Adding Images to a User Documentation Page
Add Images from Text Editor The User Documentation Template allows one to embed images within text. Examples of this are shown on this page. Via the RedDot Text Editor, simply click on the image icon, , in the Text Editor toolbar. The first time images are used they will come from a local drive, as illustrated here:

Then browse to where the file exists on your computer.

You'll be prompted to choose a media catalog folder to house your image. In an attempt to better organize the RedDot media catalog, we ask you to choose "User Documentation Images" folder.

Replacing an Existing Image with Same Name If you are updating an image from your local drive, select "replace" versus updating the file name. Use the same filename to ensure that a single copy of the image is located on the RedDot server. This image can be used on other pages and if multiple copies are uploaded to the RedDot server, incorrect versions of a file may be displayed.
Adding Alt-tags to Images An image alt tag is basically a brief, textual description of the image and is displayed when a mouse arrow is moved across the image. Image alt tags are used to provide accessibility for screen readers that scan for image descriptions. Once an image is inserted onto the page, use the following steps to apply the alt tag information:
- Click the image in the page to select it.
- With the image selected, click the Insert/Edit Image icon
on the tool bar to access the attributes box.
- Enter a brief description of the image in the ALT box.
- You can also add a border, if desired, by placing a "1" in the border box.
View the AIS Web Style Guide for more information on proper image usage and recommendations.
