From The Director
Winter is on its way with the clear blue sky, crisp air - and eventually really bad weather! For those of us in Central Pennsylvania we accept the changes of season and prepare ourselves for what each season offers.
We have a couple of specialized units and functions within AIS that take preparedness to another level. Across our organization we have taken Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning extremely serious over the last six years, and our Database Administration staff have invested careers in being able to protect the integrity and reliability of our business records. Read on through this issue to learn more about our activities in these areas.
Enjoy the upcoming holiday season and good health to you all!

Feature Story
Once again we are featuring two units of AIS. In this edition we feature Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning and Database Administration.
Business Continuity – What’s New
- AIS Disaster Recovery Services Expanding to Business Continuity Planning -
AIS has realized the need to increase their focus from a Disaster Recovery perspective on IT services to a broader scope of Business Continuity Planning (BCP) to include business services. This enables areas to determine critical business processes as well as critical IT functions in the event of a disaster. AIS is in the process of rolling out several business continuity/disaster recovery services, tools and training to assist University departments and Commonwealth campuses in the development of disaster recovery plans and strategies. Read on for further details about what's new with Business Continuity.
DBA for Enterprise Systems
Database Administration is pleased to report it's success story with the release of the Single Point of Development (SPoD) product. Read on for further detail about this effort as well as news covering items such as expanded database hours, daily refresh of transcript data, improvements coming to the DAREQ request system and products on trial.
