From The Director

...within arms length, yet miles and decades apart. Computer Operations is moving to Shields--home to the .NET Development Group. Somewhere deep inside AIS's fabric is a classic data processing organization that still handles almost a million batch jobs PER YEAR on IBM Mainframe Computers. And, at the hair-on-fire leading edge of on-line services, AIS is also responsible for the hosting and development of ANGEL services University-wide, where we regularly handle almost a million Web service requests PER HOUR on Dell Intel-based Industry Standard Servers. Please read on (click on the "Full story" link below) to learn more about these vitally important groups within AIS.

Feature Story

We have two features stories this month.

The first feature is Computer Operations, and the story gives details of some of their major responsibilities and news about staff returning to Shields Building after a 12-year stint in the Computer Building.

The second story is from the .NET group, highlighting some of their many accomplishments from 2008.
