ISIScodesets DB--New Country Code Table

Posted: Monday, April 20, 2009

The Data Warehouse team has added a new table to the isiscodesets database. This table is named: country_code. This table is intended to replace the CCTRY codeset and all users should begin using the new table for converting country code values to text, validation, etc... In the not-too-distant future, maintenance of the CCTRY codeset will be discontinued and it will probably be removed from the Data Warehouse. From our perspective, dual maintenance of the CCTRY codeset and the new country table is not recommended and will lead to confusion (regarding appropriate usage).

This new country code table/file was first created a while ago within the ISIS enterprise server database in order to assign EXPIRATION DATES to country codes. Because of the changing "landscape" of the world (no pun intended), expiration dates allow us to validate usage in assignment to current student records while maintaining a history for past/archived records.

If you are a user whom has need of this type of data, please take a look at the new table and familiarize yourself with it. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us (Vince Timbers, Marty Smith or the DW team). Thanks for your attention!
