Introducing the AIS News RSS Feed
Posted: Monday, September 28, 2009
The AIS Web & Communication Services (W&CS) team is pleased to announce the availability of the AIS News RSS feed. The AIS News RSS feed aggregates content from the different news sources on the AIS Web site. This content can be essential news that affects all AIS services or the AIS Web site, or the content can come from news articles from individual services.
What is RSS?
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a Web content syndication format that is used for news distribution and other types of update services. RSS technology makes it possible to deliver the latest news (in the form of headline links) to any RSS capable Web page, cell phone, pager, or handheld device a subscriber designates.
In essence, RSS allows you to subscribe to targeted information from a Web service in a manner similar to subscribing to a paper magazine.
Why Use RSS for AIS News?
There are a few ways to get AIS News:
- By visiting the AIS Web site and reading the news headlines in the right-hand sidebar.
- By visiting the AIS News page.
- By receiving headlines through an RSS reader.
You may find RSS a more convenient way to read AIS News. RSS can save you time and bandwidth. You won't have to remember to visit our Web site or check your e-mail. Breaking news will arrive automatically in your favorite RSS reader on your computer. RSS can also be set up to work on your cell phone, pager, or handheld device, as long as the device is XML-compatible. Check with the device manufacturer for compatibility information.
