Section 2: Approval Paths
What is a Default Approver?
- If a form is added, submitted and/or approved without any variations, the form will automatically go to the userID that is on the left side of the approval table. These are called default approvers because the form automatically "defaults" to these approvers if another approver is not specified.

What is a Proxy?
What is an Optional or Non-Default Approver?
- Any userID that is placed to the right of the default approver and that does not have a / is an optional approver. A form can be sent directly to the optional approver instead of the default by placing the optional userID at Next Approver at the bottom of the form. This can be done at the submit and approve stages.
The form can also be rerouted to the optional approver if it was sent to the default by mistake.

What is a Level 9?
- The Level 9 person does not approve forms. Data entry people are placed on the path as a Level 9 so they can view the form after it has been added. Confidential forms can only be viewed by people that are on the approval path.
Usually people that add and submit forms, but do not approve the forms, are Level 9.

Please see the Electronic Approval Path documentation for additional information on approval paths.
