Remote Access via VPN

FIT can now be accessed from outside the PSU network. A VPN connection allows PSU staff or faculty the ability to connect remotely into the PSU network using a secure connection.

NOTE:  Once you have installed the VPN client and FIT, each time you want to sign into AIS to use FIT, you will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Make sure you are connected through your Internet provider or have dialed into Penn State.
  2. Connect to the VPN dialer.
  3. Launch FIT for Windows or Mac.

Prerequisites for using the VPN Client:

  1. Direct network connection (cable or DSL modem and network adapter/interface card) OR Internal or external modem

  2. For Windows 95, Microsoft Dial-Up Networking (DUN) version 1.2 or greater. (DUN 1.3 for Windows 95 is a recommended performance and security upgrade and is available as a free download from the Microsoft Web site. Windows 98 includes the DUN 1.3 functionality.)
