Student DB Transcript Table

Data Warehouse Student Database Users
Transcript Information Updated Daily

A new uf_student_transcript table has been added to the student database. This table includes all of the current transcript fields as well as a few new ones and includes all semesters, both current and historical. The update schedule for this new transcript table is daily. Any time a transcript record changes on our ISIS system (regardless of what semester) that change will be reflected in this new transcript table within 24 hours.

The DW Advisory Committee wanted to standardize on using nulls when fields contain no value (are blank), therefore this table has null values in any field that would be blank.  For example, in order to get transfer courses, the WHERE statement would state WHERE PSU_COURSE_INDC IS NULL instead of  WHERE PSU_COURSE_INDC = ‘ ‘.

We encourage you to begin using this new transcript table (uf_student_transcript). It will contain more up-to-date transcript data than the existing transcript tables. The existing transcript tables are only updated periodically and the historical transcript changes from ISIS are updated on the data warehouse only once a year. The following transcript tables and views will be available until the end of this year:

-- hist_transcript and uf_hist_transcript contain data prior to 10 years
-- transcript and uf_transcript contain the last 10 years of data
-- uf_transcript_allsems contains data from both uf_hist_transcript and uf_transcript

To get a complete listing of the fields included in this new transcript view, go to https://www.warehouse.ais.psu.edu/datadict/datadict3.ASP?uf_table_name=uf_student_transcript

We will be looking into using this process for future applications.  If you have any questions on this table, feel free to contact Carol Findley at csf3@psu.edu.
